5 Practical Steps to Create a Vision Board That Inspires Action in 2025

As 2025 approaches, we are being called to a fresh start.

Vision boards have become a powerful tool for turning goals into reality - but the magic lies in creating one that truly inspires action.

Here are 5 practical steps to vision boarding to motivate you to make them happen.

1. Reflect on the Past 12 Months

Before diving into magazines or Pinterest boards, take a moment to reflect.

Think about the key areas of your life: career, relationships, health, personal growth, and hobbies.

What did you plan to do that didn’t happen?

And what did happen?

Are you okay with the results?

Let’s take a hard but gentle look in the mirror as we answer these questions.

Change doesn’t come from false honesty.

What do you want to cultivate in each area?

Looking back at the last 12 months, where would you like to dedicate more time in the next 12 months?

Clarity in these areas will help you build a well-rounded vision board with a holistic approach.

2. Start with the Manifesto

How do you want to feel in 2025?

Every year we create a theme to ground my intentions for the year.

Whether it’s empowered, peaceful, adventurous, or joyful, ground your vision board around a core emotion.

Take a moment to listen to this podcast episode, Create Your Manifesto & Yearly Theme, where Bria outlines how to choose your annual theme and create your manifesto. This will be your guide to help you stay aligned with your intentions.

3. Decide Your Destination

By the end of the year, what would you have liked to accomplish?

By completing steps one and two, you should better understand what this place is for you with your reflection, theme, and manifesto.

Decide on the milestones that you want to hit along the way to this destination.

Think of them as checkpoints.

It’s a mini-action plan with clear steps to find your way from point A to B.

We’d suggest focusing on one goal with sub-goals that move you toward the completion of the goal.

This is depicted by the graphic below:

An example of breaking down milestones for the goal 'Transitioning into a new career,' is displayed in a cloud graphic. Steps include exploring career options, signing up for education, completing a program, and finding a new job in the field—demonstrating how to create actionable checkpoints for a vision board.

DON’T have a long list of goals. This is very cute for dreaming about what you’d like to accomplish within your lifetime, but let’s be realistic. There’s no way you can complete everything while keeping your sanity and maintaining your well-being in a year.

Less is more so DO focus on one thing for the next 12 months. Giving this area of your life more attention will yield high results because you are not juggling all your life goals and doing your best to sustain your current life.

4. Create a Visual Expression

A traditional vision board isn't the only way.

Choose images, quotes, and words that align with your desired feelings and goals. Look for visuals that ignite a spark in you—things that make your heart say, “Yes, this is what I want!” Be selective and intentional.

Use your manifesto to incorporate elements that represent the imagery you mentioned.

Focus on your emotional connection with the words, colors, and visuals you chose to collage together.

Even if it’s a photoshopped picture of you in Germany or affirmations that remind you to do self-care throughout the year; make sure you personalized your vision board that evokes a strong emotion from you.

5. Create a Routine that Embodies this Vision Board

Your vision board’s power lies in consistency. Make it part of your daily or weekly routine to interact with it.

This could mean spending five minutes visualizing your goals each morning or journaling about your progress weekly. Engagement keeps your aspirations fresh and actionable.

We encourage you to create an ideal routine for the version of you who has already completed the goals and seen the vision.

What is this person doing daily?

Take the time to create a little day in their life and see where you’d like to incorporate these elements into your current routines.

Final Thoughts: Your 2025 Vision in Motion

A vision board isn’t a magic wand; it’s a guide—a visual reminder of what you’re striving for and who you’re becoming.

By pairing intention with action, you create a life that aligns with your values and aspirations.

Remember, the process is just as important as the final product.

Reflecting, grounding yourself in your theme, setting realistic goals, creating an inspiring visual, and developing routines to embody your vision are all steps to ensure you stay connected and motivated throughout the year.
